ארץ ישראל: Rhetorical Questions*

eretzyisrael:

1. If the deliberate targeting of civilians is defined as a war crime under international law, why hasn’t the International Court of Justice indicted the leaders of Hamas (who are the legally elected representatives of the Palestinians) for doing so?

2. If the deliberate use of civilians as human…

I was actually sad…

I was actually worried… for being out of school already and not having a job and my independent business opportunities seeming to fade away… but today I realize it might be a blessing in disguise, since I have ZERO responsibilities I could actually focus on finding what I was truly made for, and could   put all my effort on getting there…

ארץ ישראל: Peleshet = Palestine? Not even close.

hamikdash:

Peleshet

In Herodotus’ ‘History’ we can also read that the Philistines once inhabited the southern coast of today’s Israel. They lived in a region spoken of in the Old Testament as Peleshet, a Hebrew name, often translated as: Land of the Philistines,…

ארץ ישראל: Major archaeological finds in Israel confirm Biblical accounts from King David's time

eretzyisrael:

From Israel’s MFA:

Prof. Yosef Garfinkel, the Yigal Yadin Professor of Archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, announced the discovery of objects that for the first time shed light on how a cult was organized in Judah at the time of King…

On Israel and Palestine

Being a Christian does not make me perfect, or right… it just means i try to live a certain way in order to please God.

I truly believe that it pleases God when we love and bless Israel…I also truly believe that it pleases God when we love our “enemies”(Palestinians are not enemies, but since this IS a conflict, there are TWO sides opposing each other) , and bless them… I firmly believe that Palestinians have the right for self determination.

I don’t think though that this gives them…or any other country the right to hate on Jews or Hebrews or Israelites…or the country of Israel…

There is also no reason to hate on Arabs or Palestinians either.

Even when one side or the other has made mistakes…the christian thing…what would please God, is that we look for a solution within the borders of his love. Palestinians and Jews should be able to live alongside without hurting each other in any way.

I am a very political individual, nonetheless I have tried to keep this blog off the topic… I am conscious though that I’ve posted and stated my opinion concerning the conflict between Israel and Palestine… I would like to share the following because it represents, or at least comes near to doing so, my opinion on this conflict.

roxygen:

Zionism is an ideological movement that has already achieved its goal of the creation of a Jewish state. When people go on about Zionism its already quite the joke, because Zionist Congresses were held in the early 20th century, and settlers were already in Palestine by the 1920s.

Many Israeli scholars would argue that Zionism doesn’t even exist anymore. The only arguable Zionism left is those that feel that “Judea and Samaria” should fall under Israel proper: “from the mountains to the sea.”

Otherwise all that is left are political factions and varying solutions - are you a one-stater (what kind) or a two-stater? Diatribes on the part of Tumblr users on the evils of Zionism are not productive and they seriously cripple commentary offered by those people who advocate a Palestinian state and/or equal rights for Palestinians.

Advocating Palestinian rights does not mean that its okay to start a Jewish hate fest. Especially when many of us are Arabs who came from countries that had considerable Jewish populations that traded and coexisted with our ancestors for centuries. Also, there were in fact Jews that always remained in within the area that is now Israel. The population was small, but they existed. Jewish persecution over thousands of years has never been acceptable. There is no excuse to what happened to Jews as a result of irrational prejudices and the subsequent policies and acts levied against them.

These rifts occur with blogs on the Israeli side as well. They argue often from what I can plainly see and some take more informative approaches while others take inflammatory ones. When I see some of this hateful bull crap on my Dash from both Pro-Palestinian people and Pro-Israeli people, I think back to the people actually living in these places and feel ashamed and sorry.

People who are willing to consult real resources, call out propaganda on their own side, and sit down and talk to people on the other side are advocates of peace. Posting inaccurate photographs, inflammatory statements, and silly banners just perpetuates the garbage that has led to the death of countless Palestinians and Israelis.

There are Israelis doing amazing things in the Middle East to work for peace and Palestinians rights. When you post globalizing statements all you are doing is contributing to the biases against the Palestinian situation. You are making the argument for every person who gives that ridiculous line, “Palestinians don’t want peace.”

Most Palestinians would never want to associate with these inflammatory statements. They are worried about water, medical access, movement, security, economic concerns, education and political representation - then you have people on Tumblr practically calling for their destruction through their insane rhetoric. You detract from real issues on the ground when you make ridiculous statements and bait petty fights.

Also, this isn’t an Arab Stereotype Pageant. Believe it or not, its cool to think and be an individual. Atrocities have been carried out against Palestinians in Arab states. If you care about Palestinians stop doing this stuff now.
